Man With The Child In His Eyes Lyrics
What it's about: A young girl fantasizes about an aging Peter Pan-like character who still retains his childlike innocence. It's one of Kate's earliest works; she began writing it at the age of 14.
Running time: 2:37 (LP mix)
The A-side title refers to a rain-making machine (the "Cloudbuster") developed by Wilhelm Reich (Peter's father), a brilliant psycho-analyst who was eventually imprisoned for his radical ideas.
In the UK, this was the followup single to Running Up That Hill, but in the US, it wasn't released until (nearly) 18 months later (in support of The Whole Story).
Cloudbusting was Kate's last EMI America release (they allegedly "forgot" to renew her contract). It was also her last vinyl 7" in the US. From this point forward, all singles were issued on cassette and/or CD.
Double A-side promotional copies of Cloudbusting were also produced (EMI America P-B-8386). They were packaged in stock picture sleeves.
