The Man With The Child In His Eyes Lyrics
What it's about: A young girl fantasizes about an aging Peter Pan-like character who still retains his childlike innocence. It's one of Kate's earliest works; she began writing it at the age of 14.
Running time: 2:40 (LP mix)
Moving Lyrics
What it's about: Kate's tribute to her mime instructor, Lindsay Kemp.
Running time: 3:05
7 months after its UK release, EMI finally got around to releasing The Man With The Child In His Eyes in the US. It's the only US single (I know of) that didn't get a picture sleeve on the first pressing.
Unlike all of their European counterparts, the A-side on this and the Japanese releases use the LP mix of the song. (Elsewhere, it opens with Kate saying "He's here" 6 times.)
8 years later, The Man With The Child In His Eyes was re-released as the B-side to Cloudbusting (in support of The Whole Story LP).
